Scandi designer Cecilie Bahnsen has collaborated with photographer Josefine Seifert to create a photobook featuring her Autumn Winter 2019 collection entitled ‘Tokyo Trance’.

Josefine captures Bahnsen’s latest Autumn Winter creations on the streets of Tokyo, Japan, a place that has been an important source of inspiration for her work and therefore naturally the perfect backdrop for her designs. Bahnsen notes that she finds Japan to share her value for traditional craftsmanship which is reflected in her designs; a focus on simplicity, functualism and details.

Having previously created all campaign and and image content for the brand, Josefine has worked closely with Bahnsen for many years now. This beautiful book is not only a celebration of the AW19 collection but also of the pairs ongoing collaboration and shared passion.

“I feel there is something cinematic and poetical seeing my dresses on Tokyo streets. From the beginning Japan has been our biggest market, women in the city really connected with what we were doing. Which is such a compliment from a culture that has a rich fashion heritage. It’s been so fascinating seeing my designs in a Japanese context. In a sense it’s about going back to the starting point of my inspiration and the place where my collection first found a home in the world.” – Cecilie Bahnsen, Founder and Creative Director

Tokyo Trance is available exclusively at Dover Street Market with a Cecilie Bahnsen purchase across all stores.
