Rachel Loves: Moon, Stars and Rivers
Fashion Editor Rachel Bakewell selects her favourite pieces from the month. This time she’s sharing her love for all things Stars, Moons and Rivers.
When it comes to themes and prints, blooming flowers and soft pastels have without a doubt become symbolic of Spring and are an obvious choice for many. With the season finally in its full swing,
Rachel is lusting over the equally romantic trend of Moons and Stars. Having recently designed a collaboration of jewellery with brand Maya Magal
this week she has included her new Moon clip and earrings that are a must have for the season.
1. Frida Wannerberger painting
I was incredibly happy to come across artist Frida Wannerberger and her beautiful art. Her caricatured silhouettes, portraits and ink artworks have been appreciated by many amazing titles and featured in exhibitions in i.a. London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Just as Frida wrote about the piece:
What To Wear When You’re Over The Moon And Have No Fears, I think that is the perfect definition of not only the painting but also of my current mood!
2. Ganni Over The Moon dress
It was love from the first sight with this pale blue dress from the exciting 'Sun, Moon & You' collection by one of my favourite Scandi brands, Ganni. Not only does it come in the stunning, delicate astrology-inspired print (of course!) but also ticks off all the boxes from my 'perfect dress' list: ruffles, balloon sleeves and loose, comfortable but chic fit.
3. Maya Magal x Rachel Bakewell moon-shaped hair clip
With my ongoing fascination with all things moon and stars, I knew I wanted the theme to become a significant part in the designs for my collaboration with Maya Magal. This moon-shaped hair clip e
mbedded in Moon stones that comes in both gold and silver have quickly become a staple in my accessory collection. It has also been worn by the likes of Greta Bellamacina, Pixie Geldof and singer Flo Clementine. Its all about hair accessories right now!
4. Marine Serre printed tights
Spring is the ultimate perfect time of year, as all the mini dresses can now come out to the front of our closets but evenings can still be chilly enough to accessorise with tights for that extra finish of any outfit. This pair from the young French designer Marine Serre will add something special to your favourite dress.
5. Saint Laurent Rive Gauche tote
As days get longer, my 'bag-of-choice' tends to be practical and big enough to carry all of my day to evening essentials. Material totes are always a safe bet and this linen and leather number from Saint Laurent is a perfect 'grab and go' option.
6. Maya Magal Rachel moon studs
And we're back to jewelry. These moon studs from my collection with Maya Magal are also some of my absolute favourites. Subtle and delicate, they are perfect to wear on their own or with any other pieces from our collaboration.
7. Miu Miu Mary Jane ballet flats
The perfect shape and subtle star detail... say no more! Miu Miu always get it right!
8. Atelier Bloem Half Moon scent
With new seasons I find myself experimenting with new scents and Spring, with all its flowers, fruits and fresh notes is the most inspiring season for that. This Half Moon scent from Atelier Bloem is a mix of jasmine, bergamot and fresh greens. Ethereal and musky, it's a great choice for a night half-lit by the Moon.
